The upcoming release of this book has been highly anticipated by audio engineers who claim specialty in the fast emerging realm of surround sound mixing. Author Rich Tozzoli was recently honored with the 2004 "Best Title Made for Surround" award from The Surround Music Association in Los Angeles for his work on Larry Chernicoff's "October".

The book encompasses many of the techniques that helped Rich achieve SMA award and includes a DVD of full length surround mixes as well as plug-in tutorial samples that allow your ears to hear the concepts Tozzoli is explaining.

Tozzoli tapped David Ondrick to write a chapter for the book on "bit budgeting" for DVD production, which includes pre-production techniques for the DVD producer who needs to include surround audio on their production. Ondrick explains how bit budgeting is essential to the DVD production process, because it enables the producer to get the most content on the disc at the best quality.

Ondrick also designed and produced the DVD that accompanies the book. The disc lets the readers hear the detailed concepts that Tozzoli puts forth in the book and also includes bonus full-length mixes, including Tozzoli's award winning mix from Larry Chernicof's "October" and a 2003 Surround Music Association nominated mix that Tozzoli did for flamenco guitarist Hernan Romero.
